Resumen: This chapter presents an initial brief overview of theoretical aspects relating to translation and interpreting students' cultural competence, and then focuses on the relevance of cultural and intercultural competence for trainees in this field. The wide-ranging conditions that tend to pertain and condition the carrying our of written translation or oral interpretation make it necessary to deal with cultural issues differently, depending on the communicative situation in question. Similarly, cultural and intercultural competences will be required to a greater or lesser extent depending on the context in which interpreting takes place. Based on our experience with innovative educational projects using Information and Communication Technology (ICT), we propose a series of activities that facilitate mobile learning in liaison interpreting, oriented to enhancing students' cultural and intercultural competences.
