El análisis de la variación lingüística en el doblaje de la serie Jane the Virgin

Abstract

El proceso de traducción de un texto audiovisual multilingüe presenta dificultades añadidas a la complejidad ya propia de este tipo de formato. En este artículo se aborda el doblaje de productos multilingües, que constituye un ámbito traductológico con un gran potencial académico y al que, hasta el momento, no se le ha prestado la debida atención (Díaz Cintas 2014; Sanz Ortega 2015). El objetivo principal de este estudio es analizar los mecanismos utilizados para abordar el multilingüismo de la serie Jane the Virgin durante su doblaje. Más concretamente, analizaremos el tratamiento que se hace del discurso de los personajes, los insertos y las canciones en dos versiones dobladas de este producto audiovisual: la destinada al mercado español y la creada para el mercado latinoamericano.

The translation process of multilingual audiovisual products raises further difficulties to the complexity of those imposed by the audiovisual format. This article approaches the dubbing of multilingual products, an area of knowledge that has not yet received much scholarly attention (Díaz Cintas 2014; Sanz Ortega 2015). The main goal of this study is to analyze the translation strategies which have been implemented in order to deal with multilingualism in two Spanish dubbed versions of Jane the Virgin. In particular, we will analyze the translation strategies that have been used in characters’ discourse, text inserts, and songs in two dubbed versions of this product, those intended for the Spanish and the Latin American markets.
