Abstract: Some elements differently accummulate in bone depending on consumption of different dietary pattern, and osteoporosis in non senile individuals may be due protein-calorie malnutrition. Therefore, we have determined bone Zn, Fe, Mn and Cu, and trabecular bone mass (TBM) in 62 prehispanic samples of Gran Canaria, finding lower TBM, Fe and Zn (p<0.0001) and higher Cu and Mn (p<.0.001) values in them when compared with 21 modern controls. Nearly 15% of the prehispanic inhabitants showe TBM under 13%.
