Issue Date: | 1999 | Publisher: | 0021-9614 | Journal: | Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics | Abstract: | Excess molar enthalpies and excess molar volumes at the temperature 298.15 K were determined for a set of 42 binary mixtures of six ethyl alkanoates (from octanoate to hexadecanoate) and seven odd n-alkanes (from pentane to heptadecane). Both properties were represented by a suitable equation. All mixtures presented positive excess enthalpy values, mainly due to the energetic effects of the van der Waals forces and dipole-dipole attractions, with low, or even negative excess volume values, except for the case of the mixtures that contained high molar mass hydrocarbons. Calculated curves obtained from group-contribution models did not represent well the experimental data. © 1999 Academic Press. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/52115 | ISSN: | 0021-9614 | DOI: | 10.1006/jcht.1998.0435 | Source: | Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics[ISSN 0021-9614],v. 31(1), p. 151-176 |
