Fecha de publicación: | 1998 | Publicación seriada: | Informacion Tecnologica | Resumen: | The results of a preliminary study done with the purpose of developing a map of the corrosion of Gran Canary island and of the Canary Archipelago. Low carbons steel plates were set at three control centers. One center was located at the maritime station of El Puerto, another at the industrial area of Jinamar, and the third one at the University Campus of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The rate of corrosion in the different atmospheres was determined by analyzing the weight loss, the concentration of sulfur dioxide and the concentration of chlorides. From the results it was possible to deduce that the corrosion degree of a metallic structure is closely connected with the corrosion process evolution, becoming stronger with high relative humidity, and high chlorine and sulfur dioxide concentrations. It is concluded that to develop an accurate corrosion map it is necessary to install of a minimum number of control centers, appropriate to all the different environments detected in the zone under study. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/72635 | ISSN: | 0716-8756 | Fuente: | Informacion Tecnologica [ISSN 0716-8756], v. 9 (4), p. 41-48 |
