El comercio chino en torno a Filipinas: Redes interregionales y conexiones transnacionales al final de la época Ming (siglos XVI-XVII)

Abstract

La presencia de los navíos chinos en Filipinas, especialmente tras la llegada de los españoles (1565/1570) y el flujo de la plata americana desde Acapulco, estimuló la expansión comercial de los «sangleyes›› en más direcciones, determinando la revitalización de las preexistentes rutas marítimas de época Song/Yuan (960-1368) y el establecimiento de nuevas redes interregionales y conexiones transnacionales. El presente estudio analizará el desarrollo histórico de los principales ramos del comercio chino en torno a Filipinas, desde la Tierra del Sol Naciente hasta las islas de las especias, entre los siglos XVI y XVII.

The presence of Chinese ships in the Philippines, especially after the arrival of the Spanish (1565/1570) and the flow of American silver from Acapulco, stimulated the wider commercial expansion of the “sangleys”. This prompted revitalization of pre-existing maritime routes of the Song/Yuan Era (960–1368), and the establishment of new interregional networks and transnational connections. The present study analyses the historical development of the main branches of Chinese commerce around the Philippines, from the Land of the Rising Sun to the Spice Islands, between the 16th and 17th centuries.
