Herencia, linaje y patrimonio: estrategias femeninas en los pleitos por los bienes dotales en Castilla a finales de la Edad Media

Abstract

This paper analyzes lawsuits between women of the Castilian high nobility and their children for the inheritance of dowry assets at the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. Through this documentation, the strategy elaborated by women in defense of their dowry, down payment and goods and therefore the marital assets they contributed to increase will be examined.

En este trabajo se analizan pleitos sostenidos a finales del siglo XV y comienzos del siglo XVI entre mujeres de la alta nobleza castellana y sus hijos por la herencia de bienes dotales. A través de esta documentación se examinarán las estrategias elaboradas por las mujeres en defensa no sólo de su dote y arras sino de los bienes gananciales y, por consiguiente, del patrimonio que habían ayudado a acrecentar durante su matrimonio.
