Arquitectura y paisaje del agua

Abstract

El estudio de las edificaciones hidráulicas y el caso ejemplar de un sistema urbano, cuyo crecimiento se apoyó en la trama hidráulica, pretende dejar constancia de la importancia del agua sobre el paisaje canario. Molinos, norias, acequias, estanques y embalses configuraron el paisaje directamente, constituyendo por sí solas líneas visibles al condicionar la disposición del terreno agrícola y de algunos asentamientos poblacionales. En relación con lo urbano, la arquitectura del agua, erigiéndose tanto como elemento de borde o como elemento protagonista y de cualificación urbana, presenta una indiscutible identidad del lugar, capaz de dar pauta y norma a la construcción del territorio y la ciudad.

The study of hydraulic buildings and the exemplary case of an urban system, whose growth was supported by the hydraulic frame, intended to acknowledge the importance of water on the Canary landscape. Mills, wells, ditches, ponds and reservoirs directly shaped the landscape, constituting themselves visible to condition the provision of agricultural land and some settlements lines. In relation to the urban, architectural water, being elevated as much as edge element or as protagonist and urban qualification element has an undeniable identity of the place, capable of tone and standard for the construction of the territory and the city.
