Modelos teóricos entorno al valor subjetivo del tiempo

Abstract

El valor del tiempo juega un papel destacado en los proyectos de infraestructuras. La necesidad de establecer un modelo teórico que condujese a su obtención, ha motivado a varias generaciones de economistas. En este trabajo se revisan los modelos más importantes, partiendo del modelo de Becker, el primero en advertir que la teoría microeconómica tradicional al no tener en cuenta ni el tiempo ni el espacio, resulta poco realista. Las aplicaciones del valor subjetivo del tiempo son de extrema importancia, especialmente en la estimación de la demanda de transporte y el desarrollo de nuevos proyectos de infraestructura de transporte.

Theoretical models on the subjective value of time Value of time plays an important role in Transport Appraisal. The development of an adecuate theoretical model to calculate this value has been the main concern of many economists in the field of Transport Economics in the last decades. This work revises the main models, starting from the model developed by Becker, which was the first economist that included this issue in the traditional microeconomic theory. The applications of this value are very important, specially in the estimation of transport demand and the appraisal of new transport infrastructure projects.
