El coworking en Canarias: nuevas estructuras de apoyo al emprendimiento y la internacionalización empresarial

Abstract

Dado la aparición y auge de los coworkings como espacios de apoyo a la actividad emprendedora, tanto a nivel internacional como en España, cabe preguntarse: ¿Qué son, por qué surgen y qué ofertan estas nuevas estructuras institucionales? Asimismo, y para el particular caso de canarias, interesa conocer si los espacios coworking se han implantado también en el Archipiélago, cuántos existen o qué servicios ofertan a emprendedores y empresas. La inexistencia de estudios empíricos que permitan responder a estas cuestiones justifican el desarrollo e interés del presente trabajo.

Given the emergence and rise of co-working spaces as support facilities for entrepreneurial activity, both internationally and in Spain, it is worth asking: what are they, why have they arisen and what do these new institutional structures offer? Likewise, and for the particular case of the Canary Islands, it would be interesting to know if co-working spaces have also been set up in the archipelago, how many exist and what services they offer to entrepreneurs and firms. The absence of empirical studies that allow these questions to be answered justify the development of and interest in this work
