Los proyectos británicos para ocupar las islas atlánticas durante la no beligerancia española (1940-1943)

Abstract

Este artículo está centrado en el estudio de la planificación militar británica con respecto a Canarias, Azores y Cabo Verde durante la II Guerra Mundial. Con este fin han sido consultados los National Archives (Reino Unido), completados con otras fuentes primarias y la bibliografía más relevante sobre este tema. Entre las principales conclusiones a las que llega esta investigación cabe destacar la estrecha relación entre estos proyectos y la no beligerancia española, así como su importancia, al prolongar su preparación durante años en el caso de Canarias, pese a las dificultades que podían generar.

This article is focused on the study of the British military planning on Canary Islands, Azores and Cape Verde Islands during World War II. For this reason the National Archives have been consulted and completed with other primary sources and the most important bibliography on this question. Among the main conclusions in this research, it's to be noted the strong relation between these projects and the Spanish non belligerency, and their strategic value, due to their prolonged study through the years in the case of the Canaries, although the inconveniences that they could arise.
