Índices primarios de madurez sintáctica en escolares de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Abstract

El presente artículo expone los resultados de una investigación realizada en la isla de Gran Canaria, España, que persigue analizar la madurez sintáctica en estudiantes de cuarto de primaria y de segundo de secundaria.Los objetivos concretos de la investigación fueron calcular los índices de madurez sintáctica en estudiantes insertos en el sistema educativo canario, siguiendo los índices propuestos por K. Hunt, y establecer las posibles relaciones de estos datos con las variables edad y sexo.Desde el punto de vista metodológico, se ha adoptado un enfoque cuantitativo para el análisis de datos, basado en mediciones de estadística descriptiva.En cuanto a los resultados, la investigación permitió corroborar que existe una relación directa entre la edad de los estudiantes y su madurez sintáctica y que, por el contrario, no se podrían señalar relaciones significativas entre la variable sexo y la capacidad sintáctica.

This article presents the results of a research carried out in the Island of Gran Canaria, Spain. Its purpose was to analyse the syntactic maturity in forth grade and second high school students. In particular the aims of this research were calculating the rate of the syntactic complexity in students involved in the educational system in Canary Islands, following the Kellog W. Hunt ́s indexes, and establishing the possible connections in these measurements regarding the gender and the age. From a methodological perspective, the analysis has been supported on a quantitative method, based on descriptive statistics. The results show the relationship between the age and the syntactic maturity,and it show the lack of significant connections between the gender and the syntactic ability too.
