Abstract: During field work in Tenerife, Canary Islands, we have located a population of Arbutus unedo L. until now unknow to us. We observed that among the individuals of this population some possessed characteristics similar to A. canariensis Veill. After a detailed study of these individuals we decided that they represented a new interspecific hybrid. The present paper constitutes a first step toward a revision of the genus Arbutus in the Canary Archipelag
