Abstract: Excess molar enthalpies HmE and excess molar volumes VmE of (propyl butanoate + an n-alkane) at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure are presented for the n-alkanes C6 to C10 over the whole mole-fraction range. Values of HmE were determined using a Calvet microcalorimeter, and of VmE from densities measured with a vibrating-tube densimeter. The HmE and VmE values are all positive, increasing with the length of the n-alkane chain. The experimental results are compared with the predictions of several group-contribution models.
