Kinematics in the adult italian trotter horse in competition

Abstract

Aim of this study was to provide a method to obtain kinematic data in italian standardbred trotter horses during competition without the necessity to apply any kind of devices (markers, etc.). We were able to collect data as the stride lenght, stride frequency, angles of rear and front fetlock joints and average speed, demonstrating differences between first and second lap. The collected data could be useful as reference parameters or indicators of performance, at least in this breed.
