Title: | Integration of renewable energy systems into remote micro-grids | Authors: | Carta, J. A. | UNESCO Clasification: | 332201 Distribución de la energía | Keywords: | Wind-Diesel System Distributed Generation Technologies Power-Supply Probability Lead-Acid-Battery Fuel-Cell, et al |
Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | This chapter presents micro-grids integrated by hybrid energy systems, loads and energy storage systems as a sustainable energy solution for remote areas in the world. The chapter begins by introducing the reader to micro-grid technology. This is followed by what needs to be taken into account before installation of micro-grids in remote areas, relevant technical design and installation questions are then addressed, and information is provided about simulation techniques, monitoring and control equipment and system optimisation models. Finally, the advantages, limitations and future trends of these systems are given, as well as sources of additional information for the reader. © 2010 Woodhead Publishing Limited All rights reserved. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/50521 | ISBN: | 978-1-84569-527-9 | DOI: | 10.1533/9781845699628.3.425 | Source: | Stand-Alone and Hybrid Wind Energy Systems: Technology, Energy Storage and Applications / J.K.
