| dc.description.abstract | La crítica ha explicado el contenido histórico-social del Canto general (1950) como un componente extraño a la poesía. En este trabajo, luego de comprobar que la Historia y la Poesía se relacionan desde siempre, se demuestra que la materia histórico-social no es un lastre en esta poesía de Neruda. Al contrario, la realidad de los hechos histórico-sociales es transformada en materia poética por la función simbólica del lenguaje literario.
