We present in this work an image process technique that we call facilitatory effect. This technique is a multiplicative mechanism which improves the response of a previous process. It is based on a statistical process computing averages and variances This technique is an invariant process to noise and to illumination changes. It is also concluded that this technique is a type of generalized high pass filter since image areas with high grey variations are contrasted. We present results of this technique for a practical case of defects detection in leather.en_US
