Abstract: The article presents a study which described a pair of rare male-female species of the shrimp Spongiocaris koehleri (Decapoda, Stenopodidea, Spongilidae) found on the marine benthic megafauna off the Canary Islands, Northeastern Atlantic Ocean. The variables considered include the body length, the depth of the ocean where the specimen was found and the size of the hexactinellid sponge Regadrella phoenix. A comparison of the Spongiocaris koehleri with other species is offered.
