Abstract: In this paper, we present AmiLabContours, an image processing tool for segmenting complex image structures, in which very precise techniques have been applied to obtain accurate results. AmiLabContours has a user-friendly interface which allows creating 2D and 3D contours. They can also be modified in two ways, manually or automatically, using active contours. A 3D viewer and an automatic alignment of image sequences are included to improve visualization and processing capabilities. Most contour operations are performed on the level set associated to the contour (the set inside the contour). We present an overview of AmiLabContours and we explore its application to structure segmentation in electron microscopy images
