Abstract: This paper presents a review of the most recent advances in static/offline signature recognition using Computer Vision and also identifies some new trends and research opportunities such as the generation of synthetic signatures, time drifting, forger and disguise identification and multilingual scenarios. We conclude that the increasing collaboration between the Pattern Recognition community and Forensic Handwriting Experts will lead to future static handwriting signature milestones.
