Abstract: | The wireless Ad-Hoc networks represent an important research topic. Mobile ad-hoc Networks research group is developing different routing and management protocols and mechanisms for these networks. Also some people is researching in the hybrid networks where wired and Ad-Hoc networks are integrated. We analyze the performance of a network in which portable computers operate in Ad-Hoc mode interchanging messages among them and in infrastructure mode connecting them through an Access Point (AP). We analyse the limitations that present the APs to interconnect wireless stations. We propose to use all the communications in Ad-hoc mode and only use a Linux router as device that permits to connect to the distribution system when it's necessary using iptables and NAT. Also this device can operate as DHCP server and DAIS. We show that would be better to operate in Ad-hoc mode than Infrastructure mode to send packets between stations in the same cell. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/44242 | ISBN: | 9781932415551 | Source: | Proceedings of the 2005 International Conference on Wireless Networks, ICWN'05, p. 539-545 |
