Abstract: This paper presents the addition to the Stanley's (1976) habituation model of a previous stage based on spectrogram to detect temporal patterns in a signal and to obtain a measure of habituation to these patterns. With this addition we achieve a habituation scheme that saturates as the temporal pattern is perceived by the system and drops when the pattern changes. The detection of these temporal patterns is simplified by the use of the spectrogram which allows to use simple techniques for the detection like a lineal predictive filter. We have also realized some experiments with sequences of colour images in an office environment in order to test the performance of the proposed method with real images.
