Abstract: In this paper it is shown the quality assessment implementation of longest-edge refinement algorithms for application in real-time terrain operations. The proposed refinement schemes are suitable tools for the subdivision of underlying triangle mesh. They pose quite acceptable properties as quality ratio, linear time operation and algorithm simplicity. We provide a quality comparison depending on the number of considered triangles, using a dynamic threshold which directly depends on the longest-edge.
