La innovación en el sector del transporte. ¿De dónde venimos y a dónde vamos?

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se analizarán las líneas fijadas por las instituciones eu- ropeas para implementar un transporte inteligente y sostenible en el marco del mercado único europeo. En este reto, la innovación supone la herramienta esencial que deberá ser empleada para lograr con éxito la consecución de los objetivos fijados. Para este estudio, se realizará un recorrido holístico sobre el impacto de la innovación en el sector del transporte a lo largo de las Revoluciones Industriales. Con ello, se reflejará como dicha innovación ha construido el sistema de transporte tal y como se presenta en la actualidad, con sus luces y sombras. El estudio de estos precedentes permitirá establecer las estrategias adecuadas, partiendo de la problemática existente. Todo ello, teniendo en cuenta los efectos perjudiciales que se han producido en el marco de la sostenibilidad medioambiental, para evitar que se vuelvan a repetir con dicha innovación. Además, se analizará como la innovación imbricada en esta estrategia para una movilidad inteligente y sostenible favorecerá a su vez el desarrollo del sector e intentará revertir el daño producido en las Revoluciones Industriales precedentes.

This paper will analyse the guidelines set by the European institutions to imple- ment intelligent and sustainable transport within the framework of the European single mar- ket. In this challenge, innovation is the essential tool to be used in order to successfully achieve the objectives set. This study will take a holistic look at the impact of innovation in the transport sector throughout the Industrial Revolutions. In doing so, it will reflect how this innovation has built the transport system as it is today, with its lights and shadows. The study of these precedents will make it possible to establish the appropriate strategies, based on the existing problems. All of this, taking into account the harmful effects that have occurred in the framework of environmental sustainability, in order to avoid their recurrence with this innovation. Furthermore, it will be analysed how the innovation embedded in this strategy for intelligent and sustainable mobility will in turn favour the development of the sector and attempt to reverse the damage caused by the previous Industrial Revolutions.
