Free tour por Vegueta: aprendizaje experiencial del español y su cultura en las islas Canarias

Abstract

La experiencia didáctica que presentamos se ha llevado a cabo durante un curso de español perteneciente a los cursos CICI (Cursos de Idiomas y Comunicación Internacional) en La Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, destinado a estudiantes universitarios francófonos con nivel B1 de español. Los objetivos perseguidos por este curso han sido los siguientes: 1) asimilar la gramática española asociada a los contenidos culturales 2) familiarizarse con el uso de la variedad del español de canarias 3) conocer el patrimonio histórico de la isla de Gran Canaria. La metodología que hemos aplicado se basa en el aprendizaje experiencial y el método de investigación-acción a través del uso de materiales reales. Con ella, el alumnado ha adquirido conocimiento significativo que le proporciona el contacto con la realidad en un contexto de inmersión lingüística. Asimismo, el profesorado ha conseguido eliminar estereotipos y provocar curiosidad en los estudiantes acerca del patrimonio lingüístico y cultural canario. Los discentes manifestaron su contento por la metodología activa empleada y se mostraron proactivos ante las actividades propuestas por las docentes. La evaluación de las docentes acerca de la planificación del curso fue positiva: tanto las actividades diseñadas como el papel activo del profesorado en la construcción de conocimientos tuvieron una buena acogida entre los discentes e invitaron a la reflexión acerca de la cultura canaria.

The pedagogical experience we hereby present has been carried out during a Spanish course offered by the CICI program (Courses in Languages and International Communication) at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This course has been aimed at French-speaking university students with a B1 level of Spanish as a foreign or second language. The objectives pursued by this course have been as follows: 1) to assimilate Spanish grammar and cultural content, 2) to become familiar with the use of the Canarian variety of Spanish, and 3) to learn about the historical heritage of the island of Gran Canaria. The methodology we have applied is based on experiential learning and the action research method, using authentic materials. Through this approach, the students have acquired meaningful knowledge by engaging with reality in a linguistic immersion context. Additionally, the teachers have succeeded in eliminating stereotypes and fostering curiosity among the students regarding Canarian linguistic and cultural heritage. The students have expressed their satisfaction with the active methodology employed and have demonstrated proactivity in response to the activities proposed by the instructors. The evaluation of the course planning has been positive: both the designed activities and the active role of the teachers in construction of knowledge have been well received by the students and have encouraged reflection on Canarian culture.
