As Ilhas Canárias: Porto estratégico nas mobilidades e transferências portuguesas durante a consolidação do mundo atlântico

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the characteristics of the Canary‐Portuguese relations in the context of the Iberian Union. In this context, this research focuses on the background of these contacts, the relevance of the Portuguese contingent in the Canarian society and, in particular, on the commercial ties established between the archipelago and the Portuguese Atlantic territories. Finally, we discuss the impact of the Restoration in 1640 in the Canary Islands.
