Abstract: We consider the solution of sparse linear systems Ax = b arising from finite difference discretization of the transient lineal wave equation. Two different strategies are studied: the preconditioned conjúgate gradient method for the symmetric case and the preconditioned BiCGSTAB for the nonsymmetric one. Finally some numerical experiment are defined in order to ¡Ilústrate the convergence behaviour of the hnear solvers, as well as the effect of different preconditioners.
