Abstract: Adaptivity and mesh generation are two very important stages in the resolution of partial derivative problems by the firúte element method. In fact a good discretization of the domain in which a problem in differential equations must be solved is, at least, as important as the numerical fonnulation of that problem. Both of them can be involved by mesh generation if we understand adaptivity as a particular mesh generation that respect sorne data of the problem ( as is well known, adaptivity is related with the use of good error estimat~s). In this paper we presenta review of the last works about mesh generation in 2-D and 3-D and a its applications deveioped by the authors
