Safe and security factors in european cities

Abstract

The present study has the objective to investigate the dimensionality of perceived risk in some European destinations (Madrid, Rome, Paris, London and Berlin) analyzing the typology of risk. The study findings indicate that perceived risk is a multidimensional phenomenon, which includes factors of risk similar to those mentioned in both the consumer behavior literature and in studies on perceived risk in tourism. This objective is undertaken by providing an Exploratory Factor Analysis model (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis model (CFA). The results confirm the existence of six dimensions of risks and illustrate the complexity of value dimensions that have been shown to be highly sensitive to the tourism experience.

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo investigar la dimensionalidad del riesgo percibido en algunos destinos europeos (Madrid, Roma, París, Londres y Berlín) analizando la tipología de riesgo. Los resultados del estudio indican que el riesgo percibido es un fenómeno multidimensional, que incluye factores de riesgo similares a los mencionados en la literatura, tanto en el comportamiento del consumidor como en los estudios sobre la percepción del riesgo en turismo. Este objetivo se lleva a cabo a través un Análisis Factorial Exploratorio (AFE) y un Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio (AFC). Los resultados confirman la existencia de seis dimensiones de riesgos e ilustran la complejidad del valor de estas dimensiones en el riesgo percibido que han demostrado ser muy sensibles a la experiencia turística.
