Les característiques formals del gènere dels casos clínics

Abstract

Assagem una aproximació a les característiques formals del gènere dels casos clínics: l’extensió, l’estructuració, l’autoria, els títols i els trets dels diversos apartats que convencionalment els componen. Partim d’un corpus en català, castellà i anglès de casos clínics sobre salut mental, provinents sobretot dels camps de la neurologia, la psiquiatria i la psicologia. En presentem dades numèriques i observacions qualitatives susceptibles de revelar alguns dels trets i de les tendències d’aquest gènere, en relació amb els propòsits comunicatius i amb les peculiaritats de les comunitats de pràctica en les quals s’inscriuen. Contrastem les dades i les observacions recollides al corpus amb les obres prescriptives sobre el gènere, provinents de les comunitats discursives mateixes, com també amb la bibliografia pertinent produïda sobretot en l’àmbit de l’anàlisi del discurs.

In this article, we explore the formal characteristics of the genre of clinical case reports, namely length, structure, authorship, titles and features of the various sections they normally comprise. We work with a corpus in Catalan, Spanish and English of clinical case reports on mental health, particularly from the fields of neurology, psychiatry and psychology. We present numerical data and qualitative observations that reveal some of the traits and trends of this genre, in relation to the communicative purposes and the peculiarities of the communities of practice in which they are produced. We contrast the data and observations gathered from the corpus with the prescriptive texts on the genre, drawn up by the discursive communities themselves, as well as with the pertinent bibliography produced mostly in the field of discourse analysis.
