Abstract: This paper seeks to analyze the impact of regional aviation subsidies for Gran Canary airport; specifically, the effect on airport capacity, air carrier economics and the environment. It was found that aircraft taxiing operations time increased producing negative effects on airport capacity management, air carrier economies and the environment in terms of decreasing airport capacity available and the increased fuel and emissions costs. However, those losses have to be balanced against the social benefit of increased resident mobility.
