Resumen: The operation of Optical Camera Communication systems in outdoor conditions is challenged by interfering sources of light and optical attenuation induced by the atmosphere. The low signal power at the receiver is prone to be affected by the quantization noise at the analog-to-digital converter. In this paper, an algorithm for optimizing the camera's analog gain has been experimentally evaluated under laboratory conditions. The image quality improvement is estimated by Pearson's correlation coefficient to a template signal, and it is shown to improve the signal-to-noise ratio up to 27.8 dB.
