Optimization of acoustic techniques for mapping coastal habitats

Abstract

The execution of this final degree work has focused on making a mapping of the seabed. In an area located north east coast of Gran Canaria Island to determine what type of biological communities exist, from the data obtained with side scan sonar . With sonar data have been built new maps substrate , type of background and maps of habitats following a standardized classification. All works have been developed in order to improve and update existing mapping techniques on the seabed.
