Plan estratégico de la policía local para el control de la contaminación atmosférica derivada del tráfico de vehículos en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Abstract

In the development of modern society is obvious the role of transporting people and goods, especially by road. But the fact of the dependence of the motor vehicle in developed countries, and even in those that are developing, has caused the engine to produce high levels of collateral damage to society itself. This phenomenon of road pollution is causing detrimental effects on the environment and on human health, especially in cities, where traffic has become the main source of urban pollution. This paper aims to justify the role of local police in this society to emerging risks social development itself, specifically from the point of view of mobility and the environment. Already there is some awareness of the need to promote sustainable mobility in order to protect the environment and provide a healthy quality of urban life, under the law that gives all citizens to enjoy an environment suitable for the development of the person (Article 45 of the Spanish Constitution). To do this, we have developed a Strategic Plan which the local police evolve and adapt to new social demands, particularly in environmental and sustainable mobility. The development of the Plan's main objective is the control and reduction of pollutant emissions from traffic in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It seeks to minimize the effects of traffic pollution on human health, in the social, economic and environmental himself offering the enjoyment of the right that gives all citizens of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to breathe clean air.
