La turistificación de los conjuntos históricos (BIC) de Vegueta y Triana (Las Palmas de G. C., España)

Abstract

El conjunto histórico (Bien de Interés Cultural) de Vegueta y Triana en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria está experimentado un proceso de turistificación en los últimos años favorecido por la intervención urbanística en su espacio, el auge del turismo urbano cultural y el crecimiento de nuevas fórmulas de contratación turística propias del capitalismo digital. Este proceso, común a otros muchos barrios históricos con valor patrimonial, está afectando a su función residencial y desencadenando procesos de gentrificación turística. En esta comunicación se estudia el desarrollo turístico que está experimentando el conjunto histórico a partir del análisis y geolocalización de la oferta alojativa y complementaria, pretendiendo medir el nivel de especialización turística de la zona y reconocer las principales características de la oferta existente. Todo ello nos permite reflexionar sobre la dinámica turistificadora de la zona de estudio y las perspectivas de futuro.

The historical set (Cultural Interest Good) of Vegueta and Triana in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has undergone a process of touristification in recent years favoured by urban intervention in its space, the rise of cultural urban tourism and the growth of new formulas of tourist contracting typical of digital capitalism. This process, common to many other historic neighbourhoods with heritage value, is affecting their residential function and triggering processes of tourist gentrification. In this paper, we study the tourist development that the historical neibourghoods are experiencing from the analysis and geolocation of the accommodation and complementary offer, trying to measure the level of tourist specialization in the area and recognize the main characteristics of the existing offer. All this allows us to reflect on the tourist dynamics of the study area and prospects.
