Fecha de publicación: | 2023 | Resumen: | This study aims to evaluate the amount of different types of condemnations in small ruminants (goats and sheep) in the slaughterhouse of the island of Gran Canaria, as well as to determine and quantify the causes of such condemnations. For this aim, the data were collected for a period of 5 years, from 2018 to 2022, with a total of 60 reports corresponding to the months of the 5 years evaluated. It was determined that there are no significant differences between the different condemnations over the years. We detected that the most affected organ in general were the lungs, in young and adults animals. However, there is greater involvement of the kidneys among adult animals than among young animals. Nevertheless, there are no substantial differences between the two species, sheep and goats. The most affected viscera is the lung, followed by the liver, kidneys, heart and others. Partial condemnations are much more relevant than total condemnations. The predominant lesion is pneumonia, followed by lung contamination, lung aspiration, liver parasites, nephritis, and steatosis. The main cause of heart condemnation is pericarditis, liver parasitosis, lung pneumonia, kidney nephritis and other organs cysticercosis. Total condemnations are mainly due to undetermined causes. | Departamento: | Departamento de Patología Animal, Producción Animal, Bromatología y Tecnología de Los Alimentos | Facultad: | Facultad de Veterinaria | Titulación: | Grado en Veterinaria | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/125784 |
