Subclinical mastitis in mixed small ruminant herds. Differences associated to species

Abstract

In order to determinate and study the difference in the prevalence of subclinical mastitis in mixed sheep and goat farms, 100 sheeps and 100 goats from 4 different farms in the island of Gran Canaria were selected, where California Mastitis Test (CMT) was performed at farm level. Of all animals analyzed, a high percentage were positive to the test, so animals affected with subclinical mastitis should be considered as high.
