Title: | Origin of the groundwater salinization in La Aldea coastal aquifer (Gran Canaria, Canary Islands) | Authors: | Cruz-Fuentes, Tatiana Cabrera, M.C. Heredia-Díaz, Javier |
UNESCO Clasification: | 250605 Hidrogeología | Keywords: | Acuíferos, Agua subterránea, salinización, La Aldea (Gran Canaria, Canarias) | Issue Date: | 2010 | Abstract: | Groundwater chemistry in La Aldea aquifer (Gran Canaria, Canary Islands) shows high contents of chloride and nitrate ions. The salinization process has been modelled using the geochemical data, taking into account the results of a previous flow model. The results allow to identify the salinity of the recharge from the rainfall under aridity conditions and the irrigation returns like the main causes of the groundwater salinization. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/9186 | Source: | SWIM21 - 21st Salt Water Intrusion Meeting, June 21 - 26, Azores, 978-972-97711-5-6, p. 35-38 | Rights: | by-nc-nd |
