Abstract: Essential fatty acids are of great importance for the normal development of marine fish larvae. Among them, docosahexaenoic acid is known to have a higher efficiency as an essential fatty acid in larvae, being particularly accumulated in the retina, olfactory nerve and other neurons. Therefore, it is particularly important in the nervous system of larvae and hence, be related with behaviour. Establishing the behaviour pattern in healthy fish would constitute a potent non invasive tool to determine fish welfare and health. Sparusauratalarvae were fed with rotifers enriched with DHA Protein Selco (DPH) and rotifers enriched with and emulsion with elevated levels of DHA based on DHA Protein Selco mix with purified fish oil capsules (HDHA). Swimming speed of larvae from all groups was measured on 13, 22 and 35 days after hatching. The burst swimming speed significantly higher obtained in larvae fed with HDHA, suggesting the important role of n3-HUFA, especially DHA
