Identidad y estereotipos de la mujer en el deporte: una aproximación a la evolución histórica

Abstract

El deporte es una de las escasas áreas en la cultura moderna en donde el cuerpo, su imagen y los estereotipos juegan un papel predominante en cuanto a fuerza física, poder y agresividad. Por ello es en el propio deporte donde las diferencias de género vienen influenciadas por el contexto sociocultural y el propio proceso de socialización de hombres y mujeres, donde las imágenes de feminidad y masculinidad se manifiestan de formas diversificadas.

Gender is not something we are or have but something we produce and do. Images of feminity and masculinity are presented in various forms on different stages. Sport is one of the few areas in modern culture in which the body plays a decisive role, physical strength, power and aggressiveness. Therefore sport is a place, where gender differences, stereotypes and gender are influenced by the sociocultural context and socialization process of males and females.
