Abstract: This paper describes the procedures followed to develop an integrated software tool that permits one to obtain high level products from NOAA-AVHRR data directly received from the satellite, performing the required level conversions and applying the processing algorithms dictated by the specific needs of each user. An additional objective of this work is the complete adaptation of the previously developed algorithms, operational for AVHRR/2 data, to be used with AVHRR/3 data, the modified version of the sensor to fly onboard NOAA-15 and its successors. The challenges presented during the modification, and the integration of all these processes, are discussed.
