Abstract: The use of different commercial immunostimulants (modified yeast, mannooligosaccarides (MOS) and beta glucans) was assayed in both sea bream and sea bass. Fish immune parameters and indicators of stress were studied for basal (unstressed levels) and under a stressful situation (2h of confinement) and fish growth was also monitored. Free nucleotides seem to be the best modulators to enhance sea bream growth and stimulate the immune system and stress resistance, whereas sea bass seems to have different (and more varied) response to the immunostimulants when compared with sea bream. MOS and modified yeast were the best products to improve immune system and stress response in sea bass and sea bream respectively.
