Recently, the study of poverty with quantitative methodology to include the whole of the citizens of a concrete society, has been spreading in developed countries. It begins with a brief explanation of the measurement used to obtain the size and characteristics of poverty. The relative measurement of the incomes allows to construct a rate of poverty which facilitates the comparison among societies or territories. From 1994 the European Union is applying this methodology in its statistics of the Panel of Houses in the European Union. With the same methodology there was realized the Statistics of Social Conditions of the Canary Population 2001, official statistics from we extract the characterizations, we have previously written. To understand get into the most disadvantaged population in the Canary Islands, the article pays attention on the most significant items: age, family forms, poor heads of family, and the education and employment of the youngest.
