Every day we find a higher concentration of pollutants in the waters of our planet, such as rivers, lakes, seas and oceans, groundwater and even in waters for human consumption. Therefore, the contaminants found in these must be controlled to minimize the damage. The pharmaceutical products are continuously introduced into the aquatic environment and for this reason the contamination is a concern in the field of environmental health. The pharmaceuticals products studied in this work were selected based on the high consume of them in Portugal, on their attenuation/persistence in surface waters and on their potential ecotoxicological impact, between many others, according to legislation criteria This work consisted in the validation of an analytical method for the subsequent determination of 18 pharmaceuticals products (PPs) in water for human consumption. The pharmaceuticals were extracted by solid-phase (SPE) extraction through Oasis HBL Prime cartridges, for the subsequent quantification by Liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS2). The results obtained in the analysis of the validation, show that the linearity, limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs), accuracy and precision are acceptable for applying in the samples of drinking water, being this objective of this work.en_US
