In recent decades there has been an increase in the demand for fish from fish farms and among them is the golden gilthead. Therefore, in order to reduce production costs and improve the final quality of the product, genetic selection programs have been carried out. Among them is the research carried out by PROGENSA, which consists of avoiding deformities in the skeleton and improving the fish growth. However, in making these selections it was not known whether these would have repercussions on the quality of the spawn and/ or the offspring. This is the purpose of this study. The results of this study highlight the fact that by making genetic selection at half a kilo, effects on hatching rate and survival occur. These are more favourable in the individuals who have undergone genetic improvements than in the ones that have been selected. In the same way, the size of the larvae the day after the hatching also present variations that as in the previous case the elite present larger size. On the other hand, when comparing our elite population from which it came, we were able to see that they lost allelic diversity and were differentiated.en_US
