La extensión de la ciudad difusa en Canarias: repercusiones para el transporte terrestre

Abstract

This work studies the effects of the growth in horizontal of the cities of the Canary Islands. We will stop in the effects that has this model for the transport of people by road in the Islands, taking like indicators the growth of absolute mobility and per capita years in the last. The diffuse city needs more than no other, the highway network and means of transport. In effect, it has been necessary construct roads new with all its effects: hard economic payment, consumption of territory, power dependency of other countries, etc.

Estudiamos aquí los efectos que el crecimiento en horizontal de las ciudades canarias tienen para el transporte terrestre de viajeros, tomando como referencia el aumento de la movilidad entre 1991 y 2001. La ciudad difusa necesita más que ninguna de la red viaria y de los medios de transporte con todas sus consecuencias. Así pues, la continua ampliación de las carreteras ha dejado importantes impactos: gran desembolso económico, consumo de suelo, dependencia energética exterior, etc.
