This study aims to clarify the spatiotemporal variability of extreme wave storms around the Canary Archipelago, with special focus on the southern coasts of Tenerife and Gran Canaria islands. To this end, experimental data from wave buoys and tide gauges are used in conjunction with wind and wave data simulated by means of atmospheric and wave prediction numerical models. Results reveal spatial patterns of wave storms energy distribution and directionality, as well as a clear seasonality.in the timing of extreme wave storms throughout the year.en_US
