Abstract: The aim of this study is to know the ergoespyrometric characteristics and to assess the cardio-respiratory and the metabolic adaptation to the maximal progressive exercise, the maximum aerobic power and aerobic endurance of soccer referees of the Canary Islands engaged in the national category. The sample used in this study has consisted in 22 referees who belong to the Referees Committee of Las Palmas. Measurements and interventions for data collection have consisted in a medical sport examination prior to the subjects, and then an ergoespyrometrical maximal test on treadmill. Between the most prominent, we found that the global average of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max.) on the football referees evaluated in this study ((X) over bar = 49,07 +/- 4,25 mL . kg(-1) . min-1) is similar to that obtained in various studies of international literature on the valuation of the physical capacity of the referees, who describes some relative values of VO2max. of 46-51 mL.kg-1.min-1.
