Intervención de la administración romana ante el comercio sexual: protección de la mujer vulnerable frente al proxeneta

Abstract

Prostitution and the sex trade, is an activity that reproduces over time. In the present papier we will approach the figure of the meretrix from the point of view of a vulnerable group that performed an office under the "double moral" necessary to preserve the purity of the midwives, although it was socially marginalized when it was labelled as disgracefull. We will also see the exploitation suffered by many vulnerable women who were deceived and sexually exploited in brothels and private homes in a criminal network organized by pimps against which, as just like today, we had to fight with measures that the Roman administration undertakes to protect and finish of the sexual market.

La prostitución y el comercio sexual, constituye una actividad que se reproduce a lo largo del tiempo. En el presente trabajo vamos a abordar la figura de la meretrix desde un punto de vista de un colectivo vulnerable que desempeñaba un oficio bajo la “doble moral” necesaria por tanto para preservar la pureza de las matronas si bien era marginada socialmente al ser tachada de infame o probosa. También veremos la explotación que sufren muchas mujeres vulnerables que eran engañadas y explotadas sexualmente en prostíbulos y casas particulares en toda una red de criminal organizada por parte de proxenetas contra la cual, al igual que sucede en la actualidad, hubo que luchar con medidas que la Administración romana emprende para proteger y acabar con el mercado sexual.
